An attempt to restrict the hours of the planned Hennessey’s Tavern Grill on Main Street failed Monday night. Donald Shoemaker, pastor of Grace Community Church near the restaurant, had asked the City Council to have Hennessey’s close at 11 p.m. instead of 1 a.m., among other changes to its permit. The council denied his request but required that the outdoor patio area be sealed off by 9 p.m. and shortened the length of the bar. Hennessey’s was located across the street for many years but is now moving into the spot previously occupied by the Papillon restaurant.
