From Times Wire Reports

New York-based Human Rights Watch said a two-year investigation found that Mexican judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officers collude to torture suspects, illegally obtain evidence and block investigations into human rights violations. Despite the Mexican government’s assurances of its commitment to human rights, “authorities are more likely to close ranks and deny that even well-documented abuses ever took place than they are to insist that those responsible be brought to justice,” Human Rights Watch said. Mexican officials refused to comment on the report.
