Corona del Mar 55, Irvine 53--Chris Ferguson’s layup at the buzzer rolled off the rim, enabling Corona del Mar to escape with the victory. Ferguson scored 21 points for the Vaqueros (14-6, 1-3).

Dennis Alshuler scored 20 points to lead Corona del Mar (15-5, 3-1).

Woodbridge 62, El Toro 55--Scott Barlow scored 22 points and Regan Arroyo had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Woodbridge (7-13, 1-3).

El Dorado 66, No. 8 Loara 65--Richard Nagy made two free throws with two seconds remaining to win it for El Dorado (10-10, 2-2). He finished with 11 points. Ryan Carlos had 22, also for Golden Hawks.

Katella 68, Cypress 62--Katella went on an 11-0 run in the second half to overtake Cypress. Robert Abercrombie led all scorers with 26 points (five three-pointers) for Katella (15-5, 3-1).

Troy 58, La Habra 55 (OT)--Jerry Inzunza finished with 25 points and scored all seven overtime points for host Troy (12-7, 3-1).

In the Pacific Coast League:

University 69, Estancia 58--With three starters serving a one-game suspension, host University (12-7, 3-1) extended a one-point halftime lead to win. Andy Lawrence had 26 points and Larry Brown 11 for the Trojans.

In the South Coast League:

No. 2 Capistrano Valley 78, San Clemente 64--J.J. Sola scored 24 points--despite suffering a sprained ankle in the second quarter--to lead the host Cougars (17-4, 4-1). Mike Stowell scored 22 points and Jermaine McDaniel had seven assists for Capistrano Valley.
