After three weeks of speculation, the Orange County district attorney’s office said Friday that two former top deputies who were placed on administrative leave Jan. 5 will return to work Monday.

Wallace Wade and Brent Romney, assistant district attorneys under former Dist. Atty. Mike Capizzi, will return to work as deputy district attorneys and will have no supervisorial responsibilities.

“During the initial stages of the transition, it was essential to have the former top managers out of the office,” said Dist. Atty. Anthony J. Rackauckas.

Wade will handle major fraud cases, and Romney will be joining a team of prosecutors in the Superior Court’s Westminster branch.

Soon after taking office this year, Rackauckas placed four former managers on paid administrative leave. All were strong allies of Capizzi, and Wade ran against Rackauckas in last spring’s election.
