Police Action in Man’s Death
Re “Officers Kill Man After 3-Hour Chase,” Jan. 19.
It scares me that Simi Valley police killed despondent Stephen Bayer without letting his father communicate with him.
It scares me even more that the police reassure the public with a bureaucratic tone that they killed Stephen Bayer according to “the book.”
With the alarming increase in police killings in Ventura County, I believe the public needs to review and control mindless police.
Contrary to the thinking of Simi Valley police spokesman Lt. Neal Rein, their book does not make the killing of a despondent individual right.
