Al Fresco: When the weather is warm and sunny, it makes me want to be outside, so I gravitate toward places like the Little Door, a French-Mediterranean restaurant on 3rd Street at Crescent Heights. It has an outdoor courtyard with a fountain. It’s terrific to meet a friend after work, or it’s romantic without feeling like a date place. It’s the kind of place you can hang; you’re always meeting people while you’re there; it feels like someone’s throwing a dinner party.
Larchmont Morning: I start Saturday at the Larchmont Center for yoga and then I’ll get juice at Jamba Juice. Then I’ll usually pick up flowers at Floret and wander into Teddy and Siena, a great coed funky clothing and gift shop. Another stop will be Chevalier Book Store, an old neighborhood bookstore.
Face Time: I try to go for a facial Saturday afternoon at Matty’s Skin Care on 3rd Street. They have great cleansing facials and a collagen facial that sort of plumps you up. That night I’ll have dinner with friends at Luques on Melrose or Le Deux Cafe, also in Hollywood on Las Palmas. I like to stay at Le Deux for late-night jazz.
Sweat or Prayer: Depending on what needs more work, my butt or my soul, I’ll go spinning at Todd Tramps, a gym on La Cienega, or to church at Agape, on Sepulveda Boulevard in West L.A. It’s a nondenominational church with a rocking choir. It’s not like any church I’ve ever been to. They have three services on Sunday, all jampacked.
Tea Time: I’ll go for an herbal tea at Elixir. They have a great Zen-type garden in the back, and I’ll check out their tonics and herb formulas. I also like to get the Italia Cappuccino at Urth Cafe.
Nesting: I like to look in all the furniture stores on La Brea and Beverly, like Brenda Antin. And I try to see an early movie, around 7ish, at the Laemmle Sunset 5, so that I’ve still got time to go to Virgin Megastore.--ROBIN RAUZI
