Preservation work on the 200-year-old Great Stone Church was delayed Wednesday because of a funding shortfall of more than $4 million, said Jerry Miller, Mission San Juan Capistrano administrator. The mission has already spent $2 million on internal structural support and exterior restoration in the last three years. Additional funding from a variety of programs scheduled to be held at the church will help offset costs to finish the project, Miller said.
