Plan Would Cut Aid to Public Radio, TV

Gov. Jesse Ventura has proposed eliminating state aid for Minnesota Public Radio, which produces Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” Ventura also proposed phasing out state funding for public television. Ventura would cut aid to public radio by 25% in the fiscal year beginning July 1. The next year it would decrease an additional 50% and be eliminated the third year. Aid to public television would be trimmed 25% in the second year of the next two-year cycle and take it down 50% more in the third year. He would eliminate funding by the fourth year.
