Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., the sixth-largest U.S. construction and engineering company, said it has been hired as the engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation’s $71.7-million Apalachicola Bay bridge project. Pasadena-based Jacobs subsidiary Sverdrup Civil Inc. was hired to build a two-lane, 4 1/2-mile-long concrete bridge connecting St. George Island with Florida’s panhandle at Apalachicola. Shares in Pasadena-based Jacobs rose 31 cents to close at $38 on the NYSE.
