FOUNTAIN VALLEY
The Fountain Valley School District recently released its augmentation scores, showing students scored correctly on 48% to 72% of the additional 125 to 140 questions added to the Stanford 9 test. The state included the difficult language arts and math questions this year as it begins to implement tough new curriculum standards.
“The test itself was set deliberately high because they wanted to come up with a test that was going to measure students’ knowledge of the California standards,” said Catherine Follett, the district’s assistant superintendent of instruction. “Hopefully, we will do even better next year.” Follett said she expects improvement because the board recently approved materials that meet the required state standards, and now the teachers will know how to prepare for next year’s test.
