Divers Search for Bodies at Site of Boat Accident
Divers returned to the St. Croix River on Sunday to search for as many as eight victims of a pleasure boat collision known to have killed two men.
Recovery crews pulled two pieces of debris from the river bottom late in the evening, and divers were sent to that area to look for bodies. Until the debris was found, authorities weren’t certain exactly where the boats had crashed.
As many as eight people may be missing, said Washington County Sheriff Jim Frank. Two fatalities were confirmed Saturday.
The two boats were apparently traveling toward Hudson, Wis., on Saturday when they collided. The larger powerboat was so new that it wasn’t registered.
