An Ojai man was arrested Friday on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons after authorities raided his house and confiscated 61 firearms, officials said.

Scott Alan Schweitzer, 28, was taken into custody after a two-month investigation by the sheriff’s SWAT team, the U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms, and the district attorney’s office.

The weapons included rifles and shotguns, including one sawed-off shotgun, officials said. Authorities said they also found explosive devices at the home in the 600 block of El Paseo Road.

Schweitzer, who has lived in Ojai for about eight months, pleaded guilty three years ago to possessing a sawed-off shotgun in Santa Barbara County, said Sheriff’s Capt. Dennis F. Carpenter.

Schweitzer remained in County Jail late Friday on $20,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison.
