LAKE FOREST
The Forest Creek and Serrano Woods homeowners associations are the newest members of the Serrano Creek Conservancy, a coalition of residents and businesses dedicated to halting erosion of Serrano Creek’s banks. The conservancy represents more than 2,000 homes in 12 homeowners associations bordering the storm-damaged waterway. Conservancy members hope to achieve nonprofit status to bring in support from government sources such as the Army Corps of Engineers and the California Coastal Commission.
Serrano Creek runs between Whiting Ranch Park and Bake Parkway. About one-third of the city’s surface water drains into the creek, City Engineer Bob Woodings said.
