VILLA PARK
About 1,200 tree seedlings will be planted in the city, thanks to the coordination of the Villa Park Rotary Club and a donation by the National Tree Trust. The nonprofit organization--funded by Congress in 1990 with $19.8 million to increase appreciation of trees--provides free seedlings for cities and organizations. The only requirement is that the seedlings be planted in public spaces by volunteers. “Anything that is helping to get the air clean and help make Orange County a better place is not all bad,” said Villa Park Rotary Club President Bob Kreisberg. “We will provide them to any public space that wants them,” he said. For more information on the seedlings, call Rotary Club member Tom Davis at (323) 258-2777, or apply for seedlings by July 31 with the National Tree Trust; call (800) 846-8733 for information or online at https://www.nationaltreetrust.org.
