A Stanton woman who pays drug-addicted women $200 to undergo sterilization or use birth control will go national later this month, opening an office in Chicago and presenting four women there with checks. Barbara Harris, who in 1997 started the organization CRACK, or Children Requiring a Caring Kommunity, has scheduled a grand opening in Chicago on July 26. The program expanded to that city because Harris was contacted by a social worker there and the two have worked for about a year to get it launched, she said. The four women have had 17 pregnancies between them and eight abortions. Of the births, one child died and two were adopted, Harris said.
