Trial Date Set on Suit to Block Playa Vista Project
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald M. Sohigan on Tuesday set a Nov. 15 trial date for a lawsuit filed by environmentalists seeking to block the Playa Vista development project.
The suit charges that the city of Los Angeles and the City Council erred by granting tentative tract map approval to developers for a portion of the 1,087-acre Westside project. That suit will probably be combined with a similar lawsuit filed last week that says the city erred when it gave map approval to what was to be the DreamWorks SKG studio project, lawyers said.
The environmental group, Wetlands Action Network, filed the second suit July 12, barely two weeks after DreamWorks announced it was abandoning plans to build a campus at the site.
