Fleetwood to Buy Western Recreational

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., the No. 1 U.S. maker of recreational vehicles, agreed to buy closely held Western Recreational Vehicles Inc. to increase its share of the travel-trailer and motor-home market. Terms weren’t disclosed. Western RV, based in Yakima, Wash., makes travel trailers, truck campers, motor homes and motor-home chassis under the Alpenlite and Alpine Coach brand names. The company has about 560 employees and annual sales of about $60 million, Fleetwood said. Riverside-based Fleetwood had net income of $107.1 million on sales of $3.5 billion for its fiscal year ended April 25. It also is one of the largest U.S. makers of manufactured housing. Fleetwood shares fell 63 cents to close at $23.38 on the NYSE.
