Clinton Slips Up on Kennedy Fact

Times Staff Writer

At a White House news conference earlier this week, President Clinton said that John F. Kennedy Jr. “had actually not been back to the White House since his father was killed, until I had become president.”

But Kennedy, who lived at the White House until his father was assassinated in 1963, had apparently visited on at least two other occasions, during the Nixon and Reagan presidencies.

Asked about the discrepancy Thursday, Clinton said that he had based his comments on what Kennedy had told him.
