Ingram Micro, Unisys in Subcontracting Deal

A unit of Unisys Corp. that caters to federal government agencies will farm out its information technology procurement, logistics, systems configuration and assembly services to Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc., the companies said Tuesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Unisys Federal Online system, introduced last month, is an attempt by McLean, Va.-based Unisys to get federal agencies to buy computers online. While Unisys will do the sales and marketing to government agencies, Ingram Micro will handle product fulfillment and returns.

The deal is similar to other outsourcing arrangements Ingram Micro has made this year with computer resellers, most recently CompUSA, to handle fulfillment and servicing of information technology products.
