InfoUSA to Buy First Data’s Donnelly Unit

Bloomberg News

InfoUSA Inc., which maintains databases of consumers and corporations, agreed to buy the Donnelly Marketing database unit of First Data Corp. for about $200 million in cash in order to pursue bigger business clients. The purchase, expected to close in July, would be InfoUSA’s largest acquisition and would increase revenue about 43%, the company said. It would gain detailed information on 180 million consumers contained in the Donnelly database. Omaha-based InfoUSA, whose databases are used by 2 million companies, provides information from white pages and yellow pages to large Internet sites such as Yahoo Inc., InfoSpace.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. Atlanta-based First Data is the largest U.S. payments processor. It owns Western Union and processes Visa and MasterCard transactions. The sale would allow it to focus on electronic commerce.
