Being green can help bring in the green.

Endural, a Costa Mesa manufacturer of packaging and shipping materials, has landed a $1-million order from Ford Motor Co. to provide reusable plastic shipping cases for Ford’s new overhead cam engines.

The cases replace the old wood-and-cardboard cases that were good for one use and then ended up in the disposal bin.

Ford has said it intends to be environmentally friendly while remaining profitable, and Endural General Manager Jim Burra says he’s more than happy to help the giant car maker by suppling all the reusable engine cases it wants.

The company says it makes the cases for 25 different domestic automobile engines.
