Yugoslavia Official to Discuss Kosovo Crisis

The U.N. ambassador from Yugoslavia will discuss the crisis in his country Thursday night at the Westlake Inn.
Vladislav Jovanovic will speak on the topic “Kosovo in Crisis: Prospects for Permanent Peace” at 6:15 p.m.
A panel of experts will also be on hand to ask questions in a discussion moderated by Steve Day, program director for KVEN-AM (1450).
Jovanovic will discuss the historical background, the role religion plays, the war’s ramifications on refugees, and why he thinks NATO is not justified in its involvement.
Appointed to the United Nations in 1995, Jovanovic has also worked as the minister for foreign affairs in Yugoslavia, the minister for foreign affairs of Serbia, ambassador of Yugoslavia to Turkey and minister counselor in the Yugoslavian embassy in London.
The World Affairs Council of Ventura County is sponsoring the event. Tickets cost $25 for members, $35 for nonmembers and $38 at the door. A light buffet is included.
