Kosovar Refugee Family Arrives in Valley

Another family of Kosovar refugees arrived in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday, bringing to six the number of families in Los Angeles.

Four members of the Rexha family stepped off the plane at Los Angeles International Airport at around 2:30 p.m. after an exhausting daylong trip from Macedonia, where they had been staying with relatives.

The Rexhas are part of the extended Vlashi clan, all of them related to Renee and Hajrush Vlashi, who live in West Hills. Twenty-eight members of the family arrived two weeks ago, and up to 49 are eventually expected to make their way to the United States.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, which is helping the refugees, is still seeking money for the resettlement effort. Donations may be sent to the Jewish Federation, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills 91307. Checks should be made out to the Kosovo Refugee Resettlement Fund. Donations may also be sent to the Valley Interfaith Council, attention Kosovo Relief Fund, at 10824 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Chatsworth 91311.
