54% of Americans Say Religion Is Important

NEW YORK — A consumer marketing survey showed that 54% of Americans say “religion plays an important part in my life.”
The report noted that faith is cropping up in everything from tattoos to teenage apparel to the popular “What Would Jesus Do?” merchandise.
Far more Americans rated religion as important than did other national populations surveyed. Among them, the Netherlands, 25%; United Kingdom, 19%; France and Germany, 14%.
The survey of 5,916 Americans was conducted by the Brand Futures Group of Young & Rubicam and had a margin of error of about 5.4 percentage points.
