* Re “ER Patients Lose in Specialists’ Rebellion,” June 1.
“You think you’re safe”--that line sent chills down my spine. I am horrified to imagine myself at the emergency room with my 3-year-old son, watching him suffer or die because we have the “wrong” insurance and a doctor refuses to treat him.
I am certainly not an insurance-company advocate and I recognize a physician’s right to fair compensation. However, the doctors who refused to treat insured dog-bite victim Jacob Saitman, 4, have turned the Hippocratic oath into the “hypocritic oath.”
Let us picket their offices and publish their names and pictures to make known to prospective patients their inhumane actions.
Above all, call the administrator of your nearest hospital and find out how often physicians have refused to treat the sick and dying--before it happens to you.
