TWA Workers Will Vote Whether to Strike

Union workers at Trans World Airlines Inc. will decide Wednesday whether to accept the company’s contract offer or strike. Workers plan to vote during five separate contract meetings of the International Assn. of Machinists. The meetings will be held for mechanics, ramp workers, reservations agents and ticket agents based in St. Louis. It’s likely that votes won’t be counted until later this month or early July, said Jim Marino, chairman of the Machinists’ grievance committee in St. Louis for ramp workers. This would give TWA passengers another month’s reprieve from a possible strike.
