Motorists driving on two of the city’s busiest streets soon will discover some temporary delays as new technology is added to improve traffic lights. The city is urging drivers to find alternate routes to ease potential traffic jams. Culver Drive, north of the San Diego Freeway to Walnut Avenue, and Jamboree Road, just north of the 405 Freeway to Barranca Parkway, will be the first two stretches to receive state-of-the-art technology that will improve signal coordination, officials said. The work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Mike Pinsoneault, an assistant engineer with the city, said he hopes to begin installing new hardware that will coordinate traffic lights with the flow of traffic by next week. The project should be done by the end of the month.
