Paint Ball Fight Mars Historic Hospital Site
Off-duty police officers playing paint ball splattered four floors of a historic former mental hospital in multicolored paint. Paint covered corridors, walls, ceilings, floors, wooden doors, staircases and a 12-by-14-foot mural of the hospital on an interior wall of the vacant 19th century building in Weston, W. Va., Sheriff Robert Rinehart said. Up to 18 officers from two or three area police departments that Rinehart would not identify played paint ball at the building during two recent Saturdays after being allowed in by security guards, he said. The officers could be charged with destruction of property.
