* Your May 20 article reports that Knott’s Berry Farm will pay $13,093 for the more than 200 riot-equipped officers dispatched to control the melee ensuing from a 5-cent admission to the park on Cinco de Mayo.

That divides out to $32.50 per hour on the assumption that exactly 200 officers responded and spent two hours controlling the crowd. This seems a very low reimbursement figure, especially considering that most of the responding police officers were on overtime. Inevitably, the remaining cost will be borne by local residents, unaware they are footing the bill.
