Making Lives Better

Share

Among the brightest threads in the tapestry that is the Ventura County community are the volunteers and nonprofit organizations that work selflessly to make others’ lives better.

Two outstanding examples are the Ventura County organizations selected as winners of this year’s Community Partnership Awards, presented by The Times Valley / Ventura County Editions. They are:

* Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Assn. of Ventura County, recipient of the Health Services Award. This organization, the county’s oldest and largest nonprofit home health care agency, was established in 1947 to provide professional in-home care and hospice services to the homebound, frail and elderly handicapped throughout Ventura County.

* Children’s Services Auxiliary of Ventura County, recipient of the Cultural Arts Award. Through its Kids’ Arts program, this group has nurtured the talents and expanded the horizons of Ventura County’s younger generation.

The Times has presented the Community Partnership Awards each year since 1990. The honorees were selected by a panel of seven community and business leaders from throughout Ventura County and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. Each organization will receive a $5,000 grant from The Times.

“Supporting outstanding nonprofit programs is part of The Times’ ongoing commitment to the communities we serve,” said Julia C. Wilson, president of The Times Valley / Ventura County Editions. “We are proud to recognize organizations and volunteers who provide the vital services that make a difference in peoples’ lives.”

We add our salute and thanks to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Assn., Children’s Services Auxiliary and the many other nonprofit organizations that make the social fabric of Ventura County brighter, stronger and more enduring.
