Microvision Inc. Joining High-Tech Optics Group

The Integrated Small Precision Optics Manufacturing Technology Consortium has announced that Microvision Inc. will join as a consortium member.

The goal of the Thousand Oaks-based consortium is to define, develop and insert advanced precision optical components into retinal scanning display systems. The consortium is led by the Rockwell Science Center and partly funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research.

Microvision, a recognized leader of Virtual Retinal Displays technology based in Bothell, Wash., will provide integration and commercialization services to the consortium.

Other members of the consortium include the University of Washington/Human Interface Technology Laboratory, Polaroid Corp., Ford Motor Co. and New Interconnection and Packaging Technologies Inc.

The consortium has selected the retinal scanning display as the preferred technology for future cockpit uses, aiding decision making by the flight crew.
