City Council members tonight will approve the proposed $29.4-million budget for the upcoming year. The approval follows a workshop last week during which council members discussed key spending items.
The plan includes a $17.6-million operating budget, an increase of about 6.3% from the last fiscal year. Increases have been attributed to a growth in the contract with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services and an allotment of $735,000 for fighting a proposed airport at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
The council meets at 7 p.m. tonight in chambers at 27801 La Paz Road.
