IRVINE
A field demonstration by the Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications organization will highlight Amateur Radio Recognition Week, June 20 to 26. The organization’s 200 members will participate in the annual Field Day event, demonstrating how amateur radio operators respond to major emergencies using a command and communications center powered by emergency generators and solar power. The round-the-clock event is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League. It will be held at the staff parking lot of Concordia University beginning at 8 a.m. on June 26. Call Irvine Police Sgt.
