The City Council decided Tuesday to hold a hearing next month on whether to declare a vacant service station on Crescent Avenue a public nuisance because the property has been poorly maintained. Declaring it a public nuisance would be a precursor to action against the property owner, such as taking out a lien or filing civil or criminal charges.

The station, at 5022 Crescent Ave., has been cited for a number of code violations in the last year, such as broken windows and poor maintenance, city planner Joan Hoesterey said. The property owner, George Adamian, told the council Tuesday that he recently cleaned up the property and is willing to work with the city. The public hearing will be at the council’s July 6 meeting.
