Residents in the Granada Park neighborhood, who earlier this year objected to an apartment project because of traffic concerns, are now fighting an office complex proposed for Puerta Real. About 80 people attended a community meeting last week to hash out some of the concerns about congestion and speeding cars, and volunteers have been canvassing the neighborhood for several weeks to inform residents of the issues and pass out a survey. The Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on the office complex--a 220,000-square-foot facility with two four-story buildings--on June 28.

Clint Sherrod, the city’s community development director, said a traffic study on the office project concluded that most people will use major streets--not residential ones--to come to and from work. He and the city’s traffic engineer will meet with some residents today to get a better feel for the issues.
