Trustee Peter J. Espinosa, 52, announced his resignation from the Capistrano Unified School District this week. A trustee since 1992, he has served in many leadership roles, including president in 1997. Espinosa said he wants to spend more time with his family and on new projects at Saddleback College, where he has taught since 1977 and most recently helped develop the Chicano/Latino Heritage Institute at Saddleback. Trustees said they will decide at a future meeting whether to fill the empty board seat by appointment or a special election.
