SEAL BEACH
The City Council plans to ask the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for $150,000 a year to help clean up the city’s beach, which officials say is polluted by debris washing down the San Gabriel River. The council Monday agreed with Councilman Shawn Boyd’s plan after he noted that most of the river is over the county line, except where it discharges at the ocean. The city spends about $200,000 to $300,000 a year cleaning up its two miles of beach, Boyd said.
