An addendum to the June 14 item on the town of Tarzana, “The Hometown That Spurned Its Ape-Man”: For a brief time, the community was actually known as Tarzan. In 1928, at the suggestion of author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the town of Runnymede, established 1922 by Runnymede Home Building Co., adopted the town name Tarzan. The letter “a” was added when some community leaders thought the new name would sound more pleasing.
