3Com Profit Jumps 34%

3Com Corp. said its profit jumped 34% in its fiscal fourth quarter to $88 million, or 24 cents a share, a penny higher than estimates, on higher sales of its corporate networking systems and PalmPilot hand-held computers. Revenue rose 2.9% to $1.42 billion. The company also said it will buy back up to 15 million, or about 4%, of its outstanding shares.
