Updates on the flurry of development projects in the works in Hollywood will be the focus of an Economic Development Summit today organized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers say the event, the first Hollywood chamber event of its kind open to the public, will give residents and business owners an overview of the major redevelopment projects slated for the faded movie capital. Among them are massive, mixed-use complexes at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, next to the Cinerama Dome; and at Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, the much-touted TrizecHahn retail project that is also destined to be the permanent home for the annual Academy Awards ceremony.

Ten speakers discussing these and other development issues are scheduled for the two-hour morning gathering at the Egyptian Theater. In years past, the meeting had been targeted solely at real estate brokers and property owners, chamber President Leron Gubler said. Among the speakers will be a representative of Westwood-based CIM Group, which since October has purchased at least three high-profile properties in the area, including the Bank of Hollywood building and the Hollywood Galaxy complex.
