Re “Senate OKs Bill Limiting Y2K’s Legal Backlash,” June 16: What does it say about the American political system at the end of the 20th century that news stories about proposed laws--such as the article about Y2K legislation in the Senate, with the high-tech industry on one side and trial lawyers on the other--end up being about how much money was given by the interested parties to the people who make the laws?
