First American Title Names Reeves to Senior VP Position

Walter M. Reeves has been named senior vice president and director of national accounts for First American Title Insurance Co. in Santa Ana. He had been vice president and director of national accounts since 1998.

* Deborah Ranier has joined Edison Capital in Irvine, the investment and financial service subsidiary of Edison International, as vice president of administration. Most recently, Ranier was senior vice president human resources for ConAgra Grocery Products.

* David Burrows has been elected to the board of directors of Biomerica Inc. in Newport Beach. He has been chief technology officer at TheBigStore.com since April. Biomerica recently signed a five-year deal with TheBigStore.com to help develop Biomerica’s new on-line drug store, TheBigRx.com.

* David Fox has joined Coast Label Co. in Newport Beach as sales engineer. He was previously an applications engineer for five years at NCR’s label manufacturing facility in Brea.

* Ron Das has joined NewPortCommunications in Irvine as vice president of operations. He was formerly director of strategic fab operations at Cirrus Logic. In addition, Joseph Vithayathil was named vice president of marketing and sales. He has been vice president of marketing at TranSwitch, and before that, founded Baysoft, a client-server and Internet/Intranet software company.

* John A. Barthrop has been appointed general counsel for Commonwealth Energy in Tustin. Before joining the company, Barthrop managed his own law firm in Orange for 11 years, and was also an associate attorney with Eadington, Merhab and Eadington of Newport Beach.

* Dean Werhli has been named a research consultant in the consulting division of the Meyers Group in Irvine. Before joining the Meyers Group, he was a consultant for the Broadway Group, a political consulting firm.

* Debra Marrano has been appointed media director for Bozell Worldwide Inc.’s Southern California office in Costa Mesa. Marrano, who has been with the advertising agency for seven years, was most recently associate media director.

* Avi Crane has joined Calavo Growers of California in Santa Ana as vice president of its newly created division, Calavo International. He previously headed up Chiquita Frupac’s avocado division and before that, was vice president of the California Avocado Commission.

* Charles Ramsey has been named vice president of international sales for Quest Software Inc. in Newport Beach, and Randall Crow was appointed director of federal sales, establishing two new divisions. Ramsey had been a sales manager at Quest prior to his appointment. He also held positions as vice president of sales at Ziff-Davis Market Intelligence and sales manager at IBM. Crow was formerly vice president of government sales at Secure Computing Corp.
