LAGUNA WOODS
Eight red imported fire ant sites have been found near the walkways of Leisure World, one of which has been confirmed by state agricultural officials. Found in homes and gardens or near electrical equipment or bodies of water, the ants will not attack people or animals unless their colony is disrupted--but then they swarm and sting repeatedly. Leisure World’s management agent, Professional Community Management, plans to eradicate the insects through inspections, insecticide baiting and cordoning off the area. Information: (949) 597-4600.
