Saving Water

The June 21 letter from Arthur Wallace contains a factual error. One inch of water falling on the city of Los Angeles would represent about 8.168 billion gallons, not 18 billion. Regardless, Wallace’s point about landscape irrigation is well taken. We in Southern California need to be judicious about both outdoor and indoor water use. More native, drought-tolerant plants would be a good place to start.
