Thailand’s Priorities
As a Thai American woman who has family in and has visited Thailand, I too am concerned with the country’s well-being (“The Water’s Hot This Time,” by David Gritten, Feb. 13). However, what the crew of the movie “The Beach” is doing to Maya Beach is not destroying its ecosystem or permanently altering its landscape.
The environmentalists in Thailand should be using their energies to solve some of the country’s more pressing environmental issues such as overwhelming smog and traffic congestion in the city areas and trash-burning.
