Banquet to Honor County’s Judges

An annual banquet honoring Ventura County judges and naming Judge of the Year will be hosted by trial lawyers this month.

Judge’s Night, hosted by the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Assn., will be held March 23 at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort in Oxnard, said attorney Barbara A. DiMeo, the association’s president-elect.

A past honoree will present this year’s Judge of the Year award, which recognizes performance along with courtesy and compassion toward litigants and attorneys, DiMeo said.

Recipients are selected by prosecutors, defense attorneys, civil and corporate attorneys and members of the Ventura County Bar Assn.

A portrait of retired Judge Edwin M. Osborne will be unveiled at the event. He is being honored for his long history of legal service in the county, DiMeo said.

Osborne’s portrait will be placed alongside other judicial portraits in Courtroom 22 of Ventura County Superior Court.

Reservations must be received by March 18 and can be made by calling DiMeo at 379-6721 or Mark Hancock at 642-2224. The cost is $45 for association members and $50 for nonmembers.
