Flower Sale to Fund Cancer Treatment

Share

Daffodil Days, the flower sale that is a major fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society, will be held in Ventura County beginning Monday. The 14th annual event, which runs through March 19, supports cancer research and treatment locally.

The cheerful yellow flowers are pre-sold and scheduled for delivery during the week of Daffodil Days. Though pre-sales ended March 1, bouquets can be purchased this weekend at one location in Camarillo and one in Oxnard. Prices run from $10 to $110.

Bouquets can be purchased for anyone, but the cancer society suggests sending one to someone who may need it most--for $15, a Hope Bouquet will be sent anonymously to a cancer patient at a medical center or health-care facility in the county.

Project chairwoman Lynda Thomas said flower sales support research, which leads to better treatment and longer survival for patients. Last year’s campaign raised $125,000 for local hospitals and cancer treatment centers.

Daffodil Days bouquets can be purchased Saturday at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, Camarillo, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at Sam’s Club, 2401 N. Rose, Oxnard, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
