The Los Alamitos Museum, which closed for renovation several months ago, will celebrate its new look next week. The museum at 11062 Los Alamitos Blvd. now boasts fresh paint, new carpets and redesigned exhibits that invite visitors to learn about the early history of the region through its growth as a city. Docents also have displays detailing the early churches and businesses of the 1890s and the city’s agricultural era. Museum vice president Sydney Gordon said everyone is welcome to an open house reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The museum already is open to visitors during its regular hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays and Tuesdays. Groups also may view the displays by appointment on other hours. The museum now features a display on antique toys. A program on Victorian weddings is set to open April 21. Information: (562) 431-8836.
