Path Is Cleared for Tax Cut, Roth Says

The chairman of the Senate’s tax-writing committee said the budget framework agreed to by Republican leaders cleared the way for Congress to approve an across-the-board income tax cut of at least 10%. Breathing life into a proposal that some Republicans said was all but dead, Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth Jr. said his tax bill should include targeted tax breaks favored by a growing number of lawmakers. The Delaware Republican is the Senate’s chief tax writer.
