Espionage by China

Share

* Once again the Republicans demonstrate their lack of substantive, problem-solving solutions as they attack the president for the Chinese spying (March 10). It’s similar to the 1950s McCarthy attack on “who lost China.”

The people of this country want to see Republican plans for solving problems, not continuing pit bull attacks from a party that apparently only knows how to snarl and snap. After their fruitless two-year vendetta against the people’s choice for president, you’d think they would concentrate on telling the public what the party stands for. That way voters will have something positive to evaluate when it comes time for elections.

* The sheer fury, idiocy and cynicism of partisan politics never cease to amaze me. If I can believe your headlines, the GOP is hoping, by exhuming the “Yellow Peril” from the trash can of history, to regain the presidency come November 2000. Reading the Fu Manchu novels as a kid was fun. Unfortunately, they just don’t wash in the serious business of formulating national policy, especially concerning relations with the world’s most populous nation.

* If the Republicans can’t get President Clinton on a misdemeanor, how can they expect to get him on high treason? I hope I don’t see the special prosecutor giving Wen Ho Lee immunity or the FBI wiring Al Gore.
